What is the ACT?

The ACT is a college admissions test taken by high school students. It covers English, math and reading, with optional science and writing sections. Each section is scored from 1 to 36, and the composite score is the average of the English, math and reading scores.

Who is ACT prep for?

High school students planning to take the ACT, whether it is their first attempt, a retake, or they are deciding between the ACT and the SAT.

What we cover

  • English: grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and rhetorical skills
  • Math: algebra, functions, geometry, statistics and problem-solving
  • Reading: comprehension and working quickly and accurately
  • Science (optional): interpreting data, experiments and scientific viewpoints
  • Writing (optional): planning and writing an argumentative essay

Why choose Success Tutoring?

Skills first. Stronger English, reading and math skills raise scores and help in class.

Pacing practice. The ACT is fast; timed practice helps students finish with confidence.

Questions about ACT preparation? Here are the ones families ask most. For anything else, your local center is happy to help.

Colleges accept either. Some students find the ACT’s pace or content suits them better. A practice test of each is a good way to decide, and we can help your student compare.

Science is optional on the ACT, as is the writing section. Check whether the colleges your student is applying to want either.

Most students do well with two to three months of steady preparation, starting well before their test date.

No preparation can guarantee a particular score, and we will never promise one. What we can do is build the skills the ACT assesses and help your child walk in calm, prepared and able to show what they know.

We meet senior students where they are. Rather than building a separate personalized program, our tutors work with your child on their own school subjects, resources and upcoming assessments in tutor-led sessions, targeting where they are losing marks and building confidence for the exams.

Membership is billed weekly with no lock-in contracts. You can cancel with just 2 weeks notice and pause at any time.
