What are the ISEE and SSAT?

The ISEE and SSAT are admission tests used by many independent and private schools. Both cover verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning or maths, and reading comprehension, and both include a writing sample that is sent to schools. Each test has levels for different grades.

Who is it for?

Students applying to independent or private schools that ask for ISEE or SSAT scores, usually in the year before they would start.

Questions about ISEE & SSAT preparation? Here are the ones families ask most. For anything else, your local centre is happy to help.

It depends on the schools you are applying to. Some accept either test, others ask for one. Check each school’s admission requirements.

Most students test in the fall or winter of the year before they would start at the new school. Check each school’s deadlines.

The writing sample is not scored, but it is sent to the schools you apply to, so it matters. We help students plan and write a clear, well-organised response.

No preparation can guarantee admission to a particular school, and we will never promise one. What we can do is build the skills the ISEE and SSAT assesses and help your child walk in calm, prepared and able to show what they know.

We meet your child where they are. Rather than building a separate personalised program, our tutors work with your child on the skills and question types the test covers, with practice under test conditions, so they walk in prepared and confident.

Membership is billed weekly with no lock-in contracts. You can cancel with just 2 weeks notice and pause at any time.
